Monika Jones serves as Program Chair and is CEO and Board Chair of The Brain Recovery Project: Childhood Epilepsy Surgery Foundation, where she served as the principal investigator for the NIH research conference grant for the 2014 International Workshop on Brain Plasticity, Hemispheric Specialization, and Neuro-rehabilitation After Cerebral Hemispherectomy. In additional to her work with The Brain Recovery Project, she is an active member of the Council of Parent and Attorney Advocates and is a founding board member of Watkins VITAL Care Program, an innovative new program that offers an educational environment for adults with moderate-to-severe autism who have aged out of the school system.

Monika is a graduate University of California at Los Angeles and received her juris doctorate from the University of Southern California. For most of her professional career she was a litigator representing corporations in lawsuits brought by employees.

Monika's first son, Henry, was born with total, syndromic hemimegalencephaly and has had a modified lateral hemispherotomy, revision surgery, and then conversion to anatomical hemispherectomy, as well as four shunt revisions. He recently required cranial vault expansion surgery to improve significant brain shift which occurred after the anatomical hemispherectomy which subsequently collapsed requiring repair.  He is not seizure free.   

Monika lives with her husband and co-founder of The Brain Recovery Project, Brad Jones, her two sons, and two extremely spoiled dogs in Altadena, California.
